Service - Chiropractic Care and Physiotherapy

Chiropractic

All body functions are controlled by the brain sending and receiving nerve impulses throughout the body. When spinal bones, known as vertebrae, are misaligned, nerve supply is blocked, creating a variety of problems.

Chiropractors gently adjust the bones restoring the function of the nerves, discs, muscles and organs. They have been known to help:

  • restore proper spinal biomechanics and nerve function,
  • colic in infants,
  • back and neck pain,
  • motor vehicle accident injuries,
  • W.S.I.B.(Workplace Safety Insurance Board) injuries,
  • headaches and migraines,
  • spinal care during pregnancy,
  • jaw pain TMJ (temporomandibular disorder),
  • sciatica,
  • easing of the symptoms of asthma,
  • reduction of stress and fatigue,
  • spinal care of children and infants,
  • scoliosis,
  • insomnia,
  • chronic ear infections,
  • vertigo (dizziness),
  • various forms of arthritis,
  • knee, elbow, shoulder, ankle & hip pain,
  • and simply for patients to remain healthy.

Physiotherapy

In addition to chiropractic, the use of different therapeutic electronic devices and manual soft tissue (i.e. ligaments, tendons and muscle) techniques may be used to help facilitate the healing process. These practices are commonly associated with physiotherapy and are often applied to our patients. Some electronic devices (modalities) utilized at our clinic are ultrasound, low-power laser, electronic muscle stimulation, and interferential current (IFC). This and proper strengthening programs can greatly advance a person's wellness.

Visits

Your First Visit

Your first visit to our clinic will be informative, relaxing and comfortable. You will be asked to fill out a new patient form ( PDF ) which will tell us more about your health history and current issues. You may also fill it out before you come in to save time.

You will then be introduced to the doctor who will conduct a thorough history and chiropractic examination based on your health concerns. after the doctor's assessment, if required, x-rays will be taken at our office. Your next appointment will then be scheduled to review the x-rays as your report of findings. If x-rays are not necessary, then treatment may commence that day if time is permitted. Your first visit usually takes 30 - 40 minutes.

What to bring?

You are welcome to bring a friend or family member. Be sure to bring a list of questions and concerns as well as a list of any medications you may be taking. If you have had x-ray, MRI, or CT examinations, please bring a copy of the report if they are available to you. In addition, please do not exercise, drink or eat anything containing caffeine, three hours prior to your appointment.

What to expect on your first adjustment?

Most patients wonder what to expect after their first adjustment. There are three common responses. The first possibility is that the patient may feel slightly worse! While these instances are rare, this can be caused by the examination process that happened earlier, or because of the changes made to the spine and its surrounding muscles.

Another possibility is that after the first adjustment you immediately start feeling better. While obviously welcomed by patients, this can give the false impression that the problem is fixed. Without retraining the spine and supporting soft tissues with subsequent visits, patients often experience a relapse of their original symptoms.

The most common response is practically no response! By the time some patients consult our office, they've had their problem for months, sometimes years. This can make their recovery slow. The good news is that the cause of their problem is being addressed, rather than simply numbed by drugs.

Your second visit: The report of findings (X-ray consultation)

During your second visit, the doctor will explain to you in detail, findings from the physical exam and x-ray results. If the doctor feels that he can help you with your health concerns, he will recommend a treatment program. Once the specific treatment has been explained, your first chiropractic adjustment will then be performed. At the end of the visit, our chiropractic assistant will work out a schedule of recommended visits with you.

How will you respond?

Regardless of your response to your initial adjustments, we hope you'll give your body time to fully heal. Join the millions who have enjoyed relief and better health without drugs or surgery!
